Q: How can I improve the appearance of Half-Life on Mac OSX Mavericks?

I recently installed Half-Life(the Windows version, not the Steam version) on my 15-inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro with OSX Mavericks as the operating system through Winebottler and am thus able to play Half-Life just like I was able to on Windows. However, when I adjust the video mode to Software mode, the screen turns white and remains that way until I quit the game. When I adjust the video mode to Open GL, I am able to see while playing, but this is accompanied by a disadvantage in that the resolution/appearance is slightly less clear than it would be under Software mode, which is the default mode setting when played on Windows but causes the screen to turn white on Mac OSX. I was wondering if someone could please tell me what drivers, if necessary, need to be downloaded which would stop the screen from turning white in Software mode or produce a resolution in Open GL mode which is equal to that under Software mode? The Graphics cards on my MacBook are Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M. If downloading drivers is not necessary, what settings on any of the Half-Life folders or on my Mac would I need to alter to resolve this problem? Thank you in advance.

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), null
