Q: UPDATING IOS SYSTEM ON 1ST GENERATION IPAD

I still have the 1st generation iPad. But when I try to download newer apps or newer versions of apps that I previously had I get a pop up stating that the iOS system is outdated and I cannot get the app. Is there any way I can get an older version of the apps or upgrade my system so that I can?

You cannot update your iPad beyond iOS 5.1.1, but you may be able to download an older version of some apps (Install an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support). That is at the discretion of the app developer though, as to whether they make older versions available or not.
