can't convert file to mp3 anymore in itunes

I need to convert a wav file to mp3. Itunes won't give the option to convert to mp3 anymore. How do I get this option to come up?

I see it now. they moved it. People can't leave things alone.

Not in preferences? I don't use iTunes 12.5 so I can't check for you personally but it is there or else there would be thousands of posts about this and not just yours.

iTunes 12 for Mac: Save a copy of a song in a new file format: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19509 - make sure you aren't in fullscreen mode: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6777547 - in iTunes 12.4 moved from contextual items to menu: File > Create New Version > Create [format] Version - example with image: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7608234?answerId=30405263022#30405263022 + "If you hold option key the sub menu changes to convert to ...."

Apple changed the way you convert files. Now to

Convert a song's file format

  1. Choose iTunes > Preferences, click General, and click Import Settings.
  2. In the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the format you want to convert songs to, and click OK to save the settings.
  3. Select one or more songs in your library and choose File > Convert > Create [format] Version.

It's helpful to include the source of information. That's just a copy and paste from the 'Tunes 12 for Mac: Save a copy of a song in a new file format' web page to which I linked earlier.
