Jun 1, 2016 10:06 AM in response to danoleby lllaass,Is the computer waking from sleep, that is the Power light goes from slowly flashing to steady?
Or is the monitor not waking?
Those are two separate problems.

Jun 1, 2016 11:23 AM in response to lllaassby danole,When it works properly, the light goes from 'slowly flashing', to steady, and the computer wakes. When it errors, I get a steady light but no waking – no display picture. Pretty sure it's not monitor related. FYI, monitor is Apple Cinema Display.
Also, I have a screen shot of the OS Error Report. I have attached...

Jun 1, 2016 11:25 AM in response to danoleby danole,I will try to note specifically what the light is doing each time I awake from now on. I'm pretty sure that I've seen a steady light sometimes prior to waking, but not sure...

Jun 1, 2016 11:30 AM in response to danoleby Grant Bennet-Alder,Machine-check is usually a Hardware problem, unless you have a Hypervisor loaded such as Parallels or similar, in which case that software could conceivably cause a machine-check.

Jun 1, 2016 11:33 AM in response to danoleby danole,Another tidbit to pass along. My computer sleeps every night until I use it first thing in the morning. Occasionally, I will walk up to 'unwake' my Mac, and it will be completely off. Shut down. I have no explanation...

Jun 1, 2016 12:26 PM in response to danoleby lllaass,As Grant said, Machine Check errors are typically hardware problems. I would run Apple hardware test, it MAY reveal a hardware problem

Jun 1, 2016 12:24 PM in response to lllaassby danole,The computer is 4 mos. old. I'm willing to do this, but don't know how – not familiar with this procedure. Would you advise?

Jun 2, 2016 11:09 AM in response to danoleby danole,Apple Hardware Test came up negative, no problems found. I have adjusted my Control Panel settings to not select 'Put hard disks to sleep when possible.' Will see if that has any effect.
Also, as an FYI for those advising, this morning I came in to wake the computer, and beforehand I looked at the Power light. It was completely off. However, when I clicked the mouse, it came on and the computer woke up. Is that normal condition of Sleep Mode?

Jun 2, 2016 12:34 PM in response to danoleby lllaass,When Sleeping the Power light will slowly flash.
If you noted the time you woke it up you can open the Console app and look for messages at that time. Look for ones that include the work Sleep or low powr
I can't get my 2013 to Sleep but can get it to go into low power mode. The Power light is still steady white but it is still doing something since the fan is still running and I can feel the fan low and heat.
