Q: Error 56 - iPad Air 2 WiFi
How do I address "Error 56" on an iPad Air 2 WiFi 128G when attempting to restore iPad to factory settings following a failed 9.3.2 iOS update? I am encountering the same issue that was reported on the iPad Pro models. I have already attempted to update and/ or restore through iTunes numerous time. I brought the device into an Apple store for service meeting with the Genius bar - who replicated the issue / Error 56 and recommended I attempt to downgrade back to iOS 9.3.1 from my home computer because he was not allowed to do that in the store. He said if reinstalling 9.3.1 did not work, I would need to replace the device because it is 1 1/2 years old. Attempts to downgrade or re-install the 9.3.1 software also ended in failure with the Error 56. The iPad is 1 1/2 years old. It is not jailbroken. It is not damaged or been damaged. It has not been submerged or exposed to water. It is only used on my home WiFi network. As of now - its an expensive paper weight.
