Try inserting/removing the card a couple of times and try different cards.

Can yo see the SD card n Disk Utility? If not and the SD card works in other devices that indicates a likely hardware problem with the Mac
- If it is repairable reinstall the OSX

- If you do not have a backup use disk utility to restore the internal disk to an external disk so you can try to recover data.
Then format the startup disk and do a fresh install of OSX
