Is a "workgroup currently being used" default settings under network?

No matter what I do, whether reinstalling OS X or resetting the network settings...-- there is always a netBIOS workgroup: that is "currently being used" under my network settings. I can't disable it. I have had so many problems with my macbook pro (early 2015) the past few months.. and nothing seems to really fix any issues. -- Can anyone tell me if the workgroup is set up default? And how to disable it .. and why its there?

I only use my computer at home -- just using the normal at home wifi secure network --- I'm the only user account on my macbook... and the only person that uses this computer.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
