Got whatsapp update 2.16.5 and it is not working now (iOS: 7.1.2)

Whatsapp is crashing everytime I am trying to reload it. I am also not getting any notifications now. I have switched on/off my cell many a times and have reinstalled the app as well but no help. Please look into it.

If you have downloaded the app, it should appear in your iPhone Settings, if you can't find it there, it may means that you deleted the app, try to download and install it again. After you download and install it again. reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on this device.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

Hi Cohen,

Thanks a lot it worked for me. Although I still cannot see whatsapp in my setting options but I unchecked all the options for whatsapp like Location, Contacts, background app refresh, notifications etc. And opened whatsapp after that. It worked for me. Now I have changed all the settings again and it is still working.

Also I logged out from my apple account and reset all the settings (Dnt know if this also helped)

Finally its working 🙂

Found a way to fix it. Apparently it is caused by the long forward mentioned previously in this forum. (The super long one with emojis that says it is 1st of June!)

There is no need to reinstall or delete or lose your data. The fix is easy as follows:

1) Disable everything but your camera. Make sure you are on WiFi.

2) When you open Whatsapp, it will open on the settings screen and from there you can enable Whatsapp Web via web.whatsapp.com.

3) Find and delete that message.

4) App starts working again!!!

So Lame.

Cheers!
