Jun 2, 2016 7:27 AM in response to Kiwisdaby turingtest2,With Windows a .lnk file is a shortcut to a file stored elsewhere. Copying files to or from the device should not have affected any other content on it. Do you have the originals stored elsewhere other than on the USB drive?

Jun 2, 2016 3:21 PM in response to turingtest2by Kiwisda,One folder is stored on the desktop of the PC that is in my office (not the same PC that has caused the problem: I transferred two files from that folder onto ANOTHER PC). That's about all. Originally, some of the files had been downloaded onto that same PC and then transferred to the USB, after which the files on the PC were trashed. Some others were transferred from my MacBook to the USB.
