I understand you are experiencing a slow connection to the internet on your iMac. Are you connected wirelessly, or via an ethernet cable? The first thing I would suggest is to restart your modem and/or router. Typically this is done by removing power from the modem/router. Also, connect the modem/router to your computer with an ethernet cable directly if your computer is currently connecting wirelessly. You should see a faster speed with a wired connection.
