Q: With itunes 12.4, my 5th gen ipod video will not play smart playlists in order and itunes can't remember how to sort things either. When will you fix this?

With iTunes 12.4, my 5th gen iPod video will not play smart playlists in order and iTunes can't remember how to sort things either.

When will you fix this?

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    Use the songs view to set the order that you want. Right-click on the playlist name in the left hand side bar and select Copy to Play Order from the context menu. Sort the list on the left most column of numbers or use View > Sort By > Playlist Order. Sync device.

    Thanks for the help. I hope the changes are permanent this way.

     

    So, for PODCASTs smart playlists on device, I need SONGs view, sort, use several other counterintuitive right/left clicks...in iTunes and then sync the device.

     

    If Steve Jobs comes back as a zombie, he's going to eat whoever came up with this new interface first.

    As far as I'm aware iTunes has always maintained a separate Play Order for each playlist. Depending on how things get added to the list over time that may or may not be the order that you see in iTunes since you can sort on other column headings without affecting the play order. When the two don't match you see one order in iTunes and a different one on the device.
