iOS mail send from wrong account

I have a default iCloud mail account and two gmail accounts on my iPhone and iPad. When someone sends an email to one of my gmail accounts and I hit "reply", the mail app often replies from the default iCloud account instead, which obviously confuses people. I have often accidentally replied from the wrong account. Only way to change it when I hit reply is to manually change the "from" line to the account the sender used.

I have tried deleting the g,ail accounts and setting them up again, and even changing the order they appear. Same results. The SMTP primary server settings seem to be correct. Can't figure out why this is happening. Running iOS 9.3.2. Happens on both my iPhone 6 and iPad Mini. Anyone else see this?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.2

I should also note that this behavior is frequent, but not consistent (at least I haven't discovered the pattern yet). Just this am, I recieved two emails from the same business colleague, both sent to my business gmail1 account. When I hit reply on the first email, my mail app reverted to the default personal iCloud account for the reply, rather than the gmail1 account the message was sent to. But when I hit reply on the second email, it correctly sent from the gmail1 account the message was sent to. Both emails were received from the same person, and both were sent to my bysiness gmail1 account. yet when I hit reply, one tried to send from the correct gmail1 account, while the other defaulted back to my personal icloud account. Happens on both iPad and iPhone.

There is a setting for the default account to use for Mail, though that normally only applies when initiating a new email, not replies. But check anyway (see the Mail sub-section of the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings). If the default is iCloud, try changing it and see if that helps.

If that does not help, have you tried resetting or restoring your iPhone? That may help as well.

I could change one of the gmail accounts to default, but id rather not as the iCloud account is my primary personal account and the default for 80% of my outgoing mail. The gmail accounts are business emails. I could also do a full reset of the iPhone, but that seems unlikely to help as the symptom occurs in both the iPhone and iPad. Unlikely both were corrupted at the same time. The problem started when I added the second gmail account, so maybe it's some sort of gmail setting unrelated to iOS?

Not sure what the issue is. I have iOS 9.3.2 on my iPhone 6S+ and iPad Air 2, and both have Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, and an Exchange account set up. Gmail is my designated default, but when I reply from any of the other accounts my reply goes out according to the account the email is associated with.

Maybe not the best solution, but have you considered using the Gmail app for business? Outlook is another good mail client and it supports all major account types.

Not sure what to offer but a reset, or a restore from backup. Something's haywire and although it may seem crazy that both devices would have this issue, it is not out of the realm of possibility that both are corrupted in the same manner. If you ever loaded your iPhone backup onto your iPad, or vice-versa, that could be a common point where such an issue could later crop up. Pure speculation, but the next step for you is to try a simple reset, and if that does not help then do a backup and restore.
