Jun 2, 2016 12:39 PM in response to Mike Sombrioby casalcantara,I don't get any message, just the nice spinning pinwheel. BTW, I hate this pinwheel!!!!
I am using El Capitan 11.4. I have been told to reinstall the OS as the Kernel_task was using a huge amount of memory (750MB). I have just checked in my laptop, and the kernel_task in my laptop is actually using almost the double (1.35GB), but my laptop seems to be working fine. I will check tomorrow once the OS has been reinstalled.
Thanks!

Jun 2, 2016 12:53 PM in response to casalcantaraby rkaufmann87,I would recommend posting an EtreCheck report of your system. We can then look for obvious issues. Please click the link, download the app and run the report. Once you have the report, please copy and paste it to your reply to this post.
If you would like more info on what EtreCheck is, simply click the link and you will find a description of the app.
BTW...If your iMac (or any Mac for that matter) has any antivirus, cleaning or other third party maintenance utilities installed that is likely the cause of the problem.
