Q: "Name" portion of open file in photoshop CS4 window is too short or collapsed

Does anyone know how to get or adjust the tabs headings in photoshop when i open a file so that its readable?

Its really annoying when you have to open and work with hundreds of images a day, each time I open a file, I have to expand the NAME column so that I can read what the file is called!  Using Photoshop CS4 and 10.9.5

I only have this problem with Photoshop and not InDesign nor Illustrator.

Thanks.OpenWindowsPhotoshop.jpg

    Hi there, Geraldo.

That's a great question. For me, I don't want to struggle to see what I need so anything that helps, I love it.

There are a lot of different ways you can view things in Finder which you might like, but there's also information on how to expand the "Name" column too. The following article, although written for El Capitan still provides some basic concepts that apply in Mavericks as well:

OS X El Capitan: Ways to view items in Finder windows

If you're only interested in expanding the column enough to see the file names, here's what you'll do.

Resize columns: In List view, Column view, and Cover Flow, drag the line that’s between the column headings.

To expand a column to show all filenames in their entirety, double-click the column divider.

Let me know if you need any more information.

THanks for your response, but my problem is with the column settings inside of photoshop when I open a file, looks like the finder window, but its actually inside photoshop.  I have done and tried what you mentioned in the finder, but it does not save this settings for when I open a file from photoshop.

the CS4 dialog control was not developed for use in 10.9, CS4 was tested to work in 10.6.9 and 10.7

changes in the framework to 10.8 and after were not tested because the lifecycle of CS4 had ended.

In other words Adobe never supported it at that time and the behavior is inherent to the application in an unsupported OS. Adobe or Apple won't ever fix it unless a fix happens accidentally.
