Q: Unable to sign into iCloud on new iPhone 6s "no backups available" yet I have 5000 photos in there!

Just opened brand new iPhone 6s after my contract upgrade from my 4s and it's telling me theres no backups available from iCloud.

im using the correct email and correct password (I've checked multiple times)

i definitely have data in the iCloud as I have 5000 photos and 40 videos!

Icloud was last backed up today on my 4s

getting really frustrated because I can't access my new phone   don't want to set up as new phone and lose all my wedding photos

An iCloud backup is a separate animal from Pictures, contacts calendars and videos.  Set the device up, and choose to "setup" as a new phone.

All my previous photos always load from the iCloud though?

Wont I lose all my stuff if I set up as a new phone?

Depends where you stored your photos, were they in the iCloud library?

The best way to research these things will be with iCloud.com

You want to login using the AppleID you were using on the 4S

Click on the photos icon and see if you can access your iCloud Photo Library - does it show your pictures?

You would also want to click on your name in the top right corner and go to iCloud settings

Click on your old 4S in the devices section and see if it shows your last backup there.

Ive gone to my photos and it's been saying 'updating...' for a while, hopefully that means it's trying to download all my images,

although its it's still failing to set up the iCloud backup..

If you think thee are issues with the backup from the 4S you can either delete and recreate it, or backup and migrate with iTunes

If you are using most features of iCloud and syncing with iCloud.com then setting up as new isn't so bad - just missing texts and voicemails

You're fortunate to still have the 4S to make new backups.

If you need to erase the phone again, you'll need to sign out of iCloud - use AppleID password and say delete from phone

Then go to the general tab, then reset tab, and erase all content and settings

Those steps will work to erase the 4S once you're totally confident everything has been moved over to the new phone

SSee this is where I'm struggling, I can't plug it into anything with iTunes on because I have no laptop. I've an iPhone 4s and my iPad and it's frustrating because I'm not very techminded. I hate anything new, only reason I have the iPhone 6s is because the 4s is giving up the ghost!

I Can't afford to lose anything from my phone photo/video related.

IN the 6s setting the iCloud is linked to my email and everything's switched on, it's just not giving me anything.. Photo library now says "no photos or videos" (worried Now)

This can be tough to do without a home computer (laptop or desktop)

This is what you want to do on the ipad

Go to safari and go to iCloud.com - it won't load

You'll need to hold down the refresh button in the address bar and request the desktop version

Then you'll able to see the website and login the way you would on a home computer

Then you'll be able to check the iCloud settings, click on the 4S and check for the iCloud backup

You will also be able to check the photos icon and see if the pictures are loading into the website

Check on both the iPhone 4S and iPad that when you go to settings>icloud>photos - you want to have iCloud photo library on and set to optimize storage

Check icloud>backup>back up now and now and make sure it shows your backup there too
