Update to 7.7.7 Time Capsule and 7.6.7 Airport Express made things worse

Main Wireless is the Time Capsule, with 2 connected Airport Express as extenders. Last Sunday updates for the Time Capsule to 7.7.7 and the Airport Express to 7.6.7: things became worse. At least each day a full reset of the Time Capsule to get the Wireless going and have the Airports connected again and many drop-outs, which we detect by using the Wirless for our Sonos Speakers. Dropouts take up to 2 minutes. Anybody else struggling with this? What shall we do, downgrade? Is that possible?

Another user perhaps said it best when he noted that updating to new firmware will not fix a problem that you do not have, but it may create other problems that you did not have before.

You can revert to the previous firmware, but there are no guarantees that things will return to the way that they were.

Post back if you are not sure how to do this. We'll need to know what operating system you are using on the device that will be used to downgrade the firmware.

Bob, thanks, you might be right. The Firmware before was somewhere in the 6.4.5, and I guess that such a step back might cause other or more issues, if possible at all. To get to 7.7.7, I tried to upgrade through the Mac OSX El Captain, at no success, all options to upgrade greyed out. On the iPhone 6plus, it worked. Started with the TC, then did the Airport Expresses. They are on 2.4 GHZ, Channel 11, as other channels are used quite heavily around. Maybe wait for other experiences from the field, if other have same issues, then there might follow another patch?

Looks like you have your numbers mixed up a bit.

The previous firmware version to 7.7.7 was 7.7.3, which was used on the AirPort Extreme 802.11"ac" and AirPort Time Capsule 802.11"ac" models.

The previous firmware version to 7.6.7 was 7.6.4, which was used by previous generations of the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule.

My guess would be that Apple decided to skip some numbers between firmware versions since it has been a few years since the last update.

We've seen some reports from users to that effect. I can't duplicate the issue to find a fix.

Got it.

Keep checking the forum.

No one can predict or say what Apple might do.

It things don't smooth out for you in the next week or so, I would try reverting back to the previous firmware that was working for you.
