Can the iPhone SE Model A1662 work with both T-Mobile and Verizon?

I have never had an iPhone and am looking at buying the iPhone SE 16GB model. Currently my carrier is T-Mobile, but because of coverage issues out in a rural area, I might want to switch to Verizon. I'm in a family plan so have other members to consider.

1) Will the same phone work with both carriers, if I buy an unlocked model from Apple?

2) Will I be able to use WiFi calling if I buy the unlocked model from Apple?

3) Are there other things for me to consider? Obviously, I am a beginner with the iPhone (though use a 3rd gen iPad), so I probably won't need the fancier options for a long time. I might vacation outside the US, though, which is why WiFi calling may be important.

Thank you very much for your advice.

Check these two articles and look for your provider and model:

iPhone offers the same innovative features regardless of the wireless carrier you choose. If you choose AT&T or T-Mobile as your wireless carrier, your iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, or iPhone SE will use GSM cellular technology for voice services and either GSM or LTE cellular technology for data services. All these devices can roam internationally on many GSM carriers around the world. See below for more details. If you choose Sprint or Verizon Wireless as your wireless carrier, your iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, or iPhone SE will use CDMA cellular technology for voice services and either CDMA or LTE cellular technology for data services. An iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, or iPhone SE activated on Sprint or Verizon Wireless also has the ability to roam internationally on GSM networks using the provided SIM. For details on LTE network support, please see www.apple.com/iphone/LTE.

Thank you for replying. I have looked at all those links. However, I'm having trouble understanding the fine points. I was hoping someone would summarize for me.

Will the same iphone that I buy and use with T-Mobile later work if I change my carrier to Verizon?

My son says "No," but yet it does not sound that way when I read the specs and descriptions. Will the Apple store guys know if I go in and ask?

He brought up the issue that I can only use WiFi calling if I buy an iPhone from T-Mobile because they put their app on it. I didn't read that anywhere, though.

Does anyone know the definitive answer to either one of my two questions?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thank you for replying, but I'm sorry that I'm not getting a clear answer to either of my two questions.

Let me try to restate them.

1) If I buy a new iPhone SE directly from Apple and use T-Mobile as my carrier (with the same plan I currently have), will I be able to use WiFi calling? Or is that something that will only work if I buy the new iPhone SE from T-Mobile, rather than Apple?

2) If I buy a new iPhone SE directly from Apple and use it with T-Mobile can I later switch my carrier to Verizon and still use that same phone?

Please indicate which question you are answering.

Thanks again.
