iTunes flickering when adding playlists

HI all,

I have recently purchased a new iMac (iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), 32GB RAM, 4GHz i7, 3TB Fusion)

I'm trying to created a new iTunes library which will contain approx. 15000 songs.

Approx. every 5th or 6th playlist I create sends the screen into a crazy flickering phase which can only be stopped by either scrolling up and down for a while or shutting down and restarting iTunes.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on cause or solution?

Many thanks.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like there's an issue that's causing iTunes to not display correctly when creating or working with playlists on your iMac. The article below provides a lot of great troubleshooting suggestions that will help you isolate and resolve the issue with the iTunes application on your Mac.
