The iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time. Please try again later.

The following error, which has never happened to me before, started happening to me on the afternoon of 2016-06-02:

The iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time Please try again later.

The above error happened on my iPhone 6s running iOS 9.3.2 and my Windows 10 (fully patched) PC as soon as I tried to download some updated apps via the "Update" tab on the Apps page of iTunes 12.4.0.119.

Since this has *NEVER* happened before *AND* it is happening on two different devices using two different networks, I hope this is a temporary issue with Apple's servers.

1. Has anyone experienced this issue before?

2. Was it an Apple server-related issue that had nothing to do with your devices?

3. How long did it take for Apple to fix their server issue so that you could resume downloading apps (either new ones or updates to existing ones)?

Hi,

i have / had this problem and message too. (latest iOS and iphone SE and ipad mini 4) It started 2 weeks ago. On my iphone with app updates or repeated downloads of apps. Ipad updates worked. All devices use the same apple id.

I tried everything suggested in "If you can't connect to the iTunes Store, iBooks Store, or App Store - Apple Support" and more. What i haven't tried yet is resetting the itunes/app store cache by touching one of the bottom icons for 10 times. Will try that next time.

What worked was a download of one update using cellular data (disabled wifi on iphone / mobile hotspot for ipad via iphone). After that the error was also gone for my wifi. All seemed fine.

Today the error returned and i had it on both devices. Again downloading one update using cellular data worked and the error is gone for wifi, too. I wonder for how long?!

When googling, there are only few with that error. What might be special here is, that i have a old apple id ending on @me.com. Don't know if that could cause errors. My wifes iphone SE (family sharing) is not affected, by the way.

Kind regards,

Matthl

I got what looked like a phishing email from 'Apple' about an order I did not place. I went to a new browser, logged into my apple store account the correct way, and coincidentally, I keep getting the following response: "We're sorry, but our Order Status services are extremely busy right now. Please try again later. " Has the site been hacked? Or is Apple being overwhelmed with inquiries about this possible scam?

Here in Denmark it has always worked perfect. But some weeks ago, I got the "the itunes store is unable to process purchases at this time"-message. In the beginning, I just rebootet my device (iPad or iPhone, both have problems), and then everything worked again.

Now - it won't work while I am on WIFI. Turning of WIFI and using the cellular network, works fine. And that has been my solution for updating apps the last couple of weeks.

Now I have updates for an app, that is more than 100 mb, and my iPhone and my iPad wont update while I am on Cellular. I have to switch to WIFI (which by the way, works perfectly for everything else but updating apps from AppStore) - but when switching to WIFI, I can't update... 😟

So, do anyone have a workaround or maybe Apple knows what is happening and what to do?

I have the same problem. I live in Italy. For some days I can not upgrade or download new applications from the iTunes Store, both from the phone and from the macbook, which is from iPad. I have MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 and iOS 10.3.2 both on iPhone 6 and iPad Mini 3. I tried logout and login both on iCloud and iTunes, reset the phone and pc, reset the network but nothing. I keep getting the message "iTunes Store unable to process purchases at this time. Please try again later". Please solve, but in a hurry !!!

Downloading via cellular worked for my iPhone but not wifi. I'm from Massachusetts. Unfortunately my iPad does not support cellular so the problem is still there. The problem has not gone away for 2 days. My husband has had no problem updating using our wifi. I have been traveling and using different wifi accounts for the last week - no idea if this has any relation to the problem.

Having issues for the last two weeks here in Illinois, USA. I even chatted with support online and they couldn't figure it out. After many Google searches I finally decided to update my Apple ID and password. I also had to update my credit card. And suddenly what do you know it worked again.

All was well until today when the error came up on my iPhone, iPad and windows 10 PC. I changed all my info again today 😡. Using the mobile hotspot trick fixed my iPad. After it downloaded an app through the mobile hotspot I downloaded a new app (not an update!) and that worked over wifi. Currently trying to fix the iPhone as it slowly downloads an app over cellular data.

Will it it take us sending support a lot of emails to get them to notice there is an issue?

What iOS version is everyone running that could be our issue? I'm on the most updated one, 10.3.2.

My wife and I, using separate iPads connected to the same router, began receiving this message a couple weeks ago - preventing us from updating certain applications. Checking our Internet connection and iOS version and other simplistic suggestions offered by Apple didn't lead to a solution. Judging by the numerous complaints about this over several years, this seems to be an Apple problem. Is the company working on a fix?

Hi 5peter5,

it seems like there was a massive problem with the same error message for a limited period in 2016 (June i think).

Now there are numerous threads which started about 2 weeks ago and things seemed to get worse with ios 10.3.3. In 10.3.2 it helped to download one update or already purchased app via cellular data. Then it worked with wifi again. (Cellular data should still work, btw.)

All in all i think there are numerous threads, but we are not enough to get the giant into action. Furthermore the forum structure prevents an organized and structured troubleshooting. Maybe one should make some news portals aware of the problem...
