Q: mac pro 2009 freezing

My dad's mac pro 2009 running os x 10.11.4 is recently been freezing when i am doing simple tasks such as safari or word. All of the sudden, when i searching google or working on a document, the mouse freezes and the keyboard no longer responds. The computer is frozen for a couple seconds before restarting. I get the message would you like to open the applications that you had open before the crash, but today i got a kernel panic report. Why is it crashing all of the sudden. The mac crashes maybe one to two times a day. My dad has macs fan control running, which i think may be an issue because console said it was excessively waking up and it was invoking spin dumps. This report, which i got today, mentions CPUPowerManagement, does this have anything to do with the fans or is it something completely different? What can i do to stop these freezings from happening?

Thanks.

What does Macs Fan Control report for temps?

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Ambient Sensor is 77 (in farenheight)

    CPU A Diode is 102

    CPU A Heatsink is 96

CPU A Core from PCECI is 109

    DIMM Proximities 1-4 (85, 86, 91, 93)

    Drive Bay 0-3 (75, 79, 80, 78)

    PSMI Supply AC/DC 1-2 (82, 81)

Temperatures seem fine. Ambient ranges 80-85 most of the time when it is fully warmed up. When i ran the EtreCheck program it said my computer's performance is excellent, but one issue that it found was that the mds was taking 52% of the CPU and the mdsworker was taking 24% of the CPU

It seems like rebuilding spotlight helped. I haven't had any crashes yet and hopefully fixing spotlight will keep it that way.

Because your Boot SSD is so large, you will likely not encounter problem any time soon. But it would be a good idea to use the TRIMforce command:

I tried entering the command, but i got an error from the terminal, "sudo: unable to stat /etc/sudoers: permission denied. Sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting."

What does that mean? Can i not trim my SSD?

That may means some Terminal commands may not be working, especially the Sudo command.

Perhaps you entered your ADMIN password, when what that command wants is your regular User password.

( ^-- If you are the Admin, never mind.)

I am the admin and it did not ask me for the password it only gave me the error when i typed, "sudo trimforce enable" into terminal.

The Terminal environment has a number of things set up automatically, including a file of users authorized to use the sudo command. This is called the sudoers file, and is kept locked up tight. But is appears your system cannot currently access that file, so you can't run anything that requires sudo.

(Unless you dad is a developer or has otherwise changed the Terminal environment such as installing a different Terminal shell.)

With such a large SSD drive, you will not need trimforce for a while. If you have some other occasion to do a re-Install, it will probably fix itself.

well it seems the crashing isn't as frequent but it still happens. But now i am experiencing another issue where i may be on safari and then the network completely stops. I lose all connections to the internet. It will work again after i restart.
