    You can, but it is not recommended....and will be a long and tedious process, with a very real danger that your entire backup file may become corrupted. Not worth the time and risk in my opinion.

     

    You really have three viable options, listed in order of most expensive on down.

     

    1) Add a new Time Capsule and start backups going there      Upside...you keep your backups  Downside....you have to buy a new Time Capsule

     

    2) Add a USB drive to your existing Time Capsule and start backups going there.   Upside....you keep your old backups.  Downside....the USB will be slow compared to the Time Capsule drive.

     

    3) Erase your Time Capsule drive and start all over again with backups      Upside.....no additional expense. Downside.....you lose your backups.
