Q: VPN PPPController Problem
Hi, I connect to an L2TP via IPSec VPN regularly but yesterday I've been getting an error immediately after I click connect. I have tested on other Macs and looked at the error log and it is definitely not a problem with the server. Here's the popup message:
You were disconnected. Try reconnecting. If the problem continues, verify your settings and contact your Administrator.
Here's the 4 lines that appear in /var/log/ppp.log every time I try to connect:
publish_entry SCDSet() failed: Success!
publish_entry SCDSet() failed: Success!
Fatal signal 13
can't talk to PPPController : Broken pipe
I've looked up this error and have only found a couple of others with it and absolutely no answers. I've rebooted the computer multiple times, verified the disk, verified and repaired disk permissions, switched user accounts, reset all network preferences (deleted both the Wi-Fi and VPN services and then put them back) and even reset NVRAM just for kicks: nothing works. I really don't understand why this is happening, I haven't done anything unusual: haven't installed anything new, haven't really changed many settings. The most peculiar thing is why there is a problem when I've just been using my computer normally and I've rebooted it.
I make regular backups and can try restoring from one but before going through the hassle I just want to make sure there's no easy fix (there certainly is an easy break though). Please don't tell me to update, this has always worked on this version and does on other computers with the same version: updating is simply not an option for me.
