faulty start up with spinning globe

I was shocked to see this so asked support and started with Control R and did a tune up at all the possibilities offered. It's now working fine but I decided to unplug my iphone I had connected for recharge when in my computer.

Can anybody tell me what happened and WHY this happened?

Tks

About the screens you see when your Mac starts up - Apple Support

If you see a spinning globe instead of an Apple logo, it means your Mac is starting from a network-based startup disk like Netboot or Internet Recovery instead of a connected or built-in startup disk. If you didn't mean for your Mac to start this way, press and hold the power key to turn off your Mac. Then, press the power key again to start up normally.

Ok, that's what I also get to read from the Manual but why has this happened in a 3 Mo old new Mac?

Check your system Preferences startup drive to make sure your hard drive is the default.

If not reset it.

On a power up after the faulty start - immediately after the chime - hold down the option key - this will let you select the startup drive - after startup - review system preferences for default startup drive.

Issue may have been caused by when you plugged the phone in -- possibly wait until the system is powered up completely.

Thanks so much for your support and YES the Mac HD pic is shown as the startup drive.

And since due to my eye sight I have to use a lighted Logitech keyboard, the OPTION key you mention is the Windows key?

Thanks for confirming the iPhone could have corrupted the files, actually I don't need the IPhone connected to the computer except for recharging while at my desk but I can charge directly to a power outlet.

Thanks again!
