I am unable to open my hotmail account in Mail because it suddenly has said I have the incorrect password. Tried several things but no change.
If I delete this account in Mail and loose all my emails, will I still have the same account in Outlook with all my emails? I will then try and re-instate the same account in Mail.
Please advise.

Yes.
Removing the account from Mail, has no effect on other applications that may be using it, or its existence on the server. You are just cutting the connection to the mail server.
Deleting the account from Mac Mail will only delete the messages already downloaded to the Mac. It does not delete the account from Hotmail.
