Problems Importing Clips into FCPX

Hi I have current version of FCPX 10.2.3 and Yosemite 10.10.5

Problem ......

I connect my card reader containing clips AVCHD from Sony PX_XW70 but they are not seen in the import window of FCPX. I have ProVideo Formats and Sony PDZK-LT2_1.2.1 installed. However I have found that the only way I can get to to see the clips in FCPX is to re-Launch the PDZK-LT2_1.2.1 Plug-In EVERY time I want to import so that PDZK-LT2_1.2.1 appears on the Desktop then I re-open FCPX and select Import once more this time I get to see the clips.

It seems as if the Plug-In isn't getting installed properly.

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem, any advice welcomed.

Hi Tom apologies for late reply I have been away for a few days

Current card was recorded for AVCHD only .

I am an Admin User.

FCPX is in the Applications Folder

I have downloaded the additional Content from FCPX menu.

As mentioned I connect via card reader and clips don't get revealed in the Import window within FCPX.

I then go to my downloads Folder on my MAC and click the downloaded icon for PDZK-LT2_1.2.1 and then the PDZK-LT2_1.2.1 icon appears on the desktop. Now if I reopen FCPX and select my folder for card in the card reader I can now see and import the clips.

However if I shut down I have to go through this very same procedure again to see clips in the Import window of FCPX.

I have even installed a complete new Blank HDD loaded fresh clean OS X together with clean FCPX, Motion, Compressor and PDZK-LT2_1.2.1.

But still experience same problem it seems as if the PDZK-LT2_1.2.1isn't installing corectly

I've noticed on my system some third party devices just don't operate in El Capitan as previously.

My SDXC Express Card/34 reader/writer operates only after restarting the Mac??

Maybe you could try another method of capturing like direct camera connection or other type of card reader.

Recently I purchased a Sandisk USB3 UHS-ll SD reader Writer, this works like a dream in El Capitan.

Hi AL, sorry for late reply.

I have just received a new Sandisk USB3 UHS-ll SD reader Writer and if I launch FCPX then steer to the Card reader, Right click and make an archive I am then able to see all the clips providing they are AVCHD, however, if I then record on a clean card clips as XAVCHD make an archive the clips cannot be seen . If I try and see the clips direct from the card reader they cannot be seen it is only when I make an archive the clips become accessible. It's not ideal but at least I can get to the files.

BUT, to get to the XAVCHD clips I find that if if I drill down into the file structure of the Card and select the CLIP folder from the XDROOT of the card copy it and separate it from the complete card file structure I am able to access the files from within FCPX. There are two file types that come up in the CLIP folder which are MXF and XML. It is the MXF type that reveal the actual clips.

i havent a clue as to why AVCHD appear OK but not the XAVCHD

Thanks for the tip re the USB card

Regards to everyone who offered help.
