Q: Multiple Devices on one Apple ID

My son's iPod (yes I know this an outdated device) is connected to my Apple ID so I can monitor his purchases and everything else. He wants to use his iMessage feature. However, when I activate that, he will also have visibility into the messages that I send and receive with other other iPhone users (husband, parents, friends, etc.) Is there anyway to have my Apple ID used for his iPod, yet a different ID for his iMessages? Or, is there someway that I can block certain messages from his view?

Yes.  An AppleID is not associated with a device, it is associated independently with the various services on that device.  Therefore, on any iOS device, you can for example login as a different AppleID for each of these services independently:  iCloud, App Store, iMessages, FaceTime, etc.

Therefore, on your Son's iPod, he can login to his own Apple ID within the iMessages app alone and it will not effect the fact that your AppleIDs is being used for the App Store on the same device.
