Q: Filtering in IOS on the iPad

I have an iPad Pro. Working in numbers I can not find a way to filter. Is this functionality available? Thanks Rod

    Hi Rod,

Here's what Numbers (for IOS) Help says about filters:

    Display filtered rows

If you import a Numbers or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with filtering turned on, some rows in your table may be hidden (or filtered). To display rows that are filtered out, you must turn off filtering.

    1. Tap the table, then tap (the bullseye) at the top left corner.
    2. Tap Turn Filters Off.

To reapply the filtering criteria, tap Turn Filters On. You can't add or edit filtering criteria on your IOS device.

    Regards,

    Barry

PS: the route to this article is a bit convoluted:

    • Tap ? to show coaching tips.
    • Tap Learn more about using Numbers (Yellow sticky, bottom left corner of screen)
    • Tap magnifier (search icon)
    • Type "filter" (no quotes).
    • Tap Search (Return key)
    • Choose (tap) Add rows and columns.
    • Scroll down.
    • Tap Display Filtered Rows.
    • ("Are we there yet?"   "Yes.")

    Hi Rod,

As Barry's post implies, filters will work in iOS but they have to be created in Numbers on the Mac. If you are only on your iPad you will not be able to create  filters.

Another way to turn filters on and off is behind the paintbrush, tap table >table options>filters. I think the popup menu above is quicker.
