Q: Is it possible to use ^x keyboard shortcuts (System Preferences / Keyboard / Shortcuts / Mission Control / Switch to desktop x) to switch to a fullscreen desktop?
I "fullscreen" e.g. Chrome or vlc or etc (really many apps that manage their own windows well).
I use "^3" to switch to desktop 3. I want to use e.g. ^7 to switch to a fullscreen desktop occupied by Chrome, but instead I have to hit ^4 and then swipe past VLC and Matlab and whatever else before finally arriving at my desired destination. I feel that someone probably knows how to do this, but I also recognise that MacOS is a little behind Linux in the UI department and perhaps can't do that yet But please give me good news and correct my ignorance!

Full Screen apps create a desktop on the fly.
You can only enable the ctrl-# shortcuts for actual desktops. As far as I know, they have not enabled any way to shortcut to a Full Screen desktop.
