"sorry, we cannot process your request" after entering CORRECT verification code

When I tried to login to the Apple Support Communities using safari, or firefox, it refuses to recognize my MacPro computer and sends a verification code to my iOS devices, and to the very MacPro desktop computer that is running the browser (explain that?!) The code sent to each of my devices is different than the code sent to the other devices. I click "allow" on a device, and then enter the verification code presented on that device, and constantly get the "sorry, we cannot process your request": regardless of whether I use the verification code presented on one of my iPhones or the one that pops up on the Mac Pro Desktop itself. I finally got so frustrated that I went to appleid.apple.com and shut off the two factor verification. Anybody have ideas on why the two factor verification codes are not accepted when using Safari or Firefox?

Not suggesting anything about Safari.

Suggesting that there are app specific passwords as part of 2FA. If plan A did not work, why not try plan B. I have no idea if a browser expecting a verification code will accept an app specific password.

IMO, what "should" happen is irrelevant compared to what "is" happening. If it doesn't make sense, but works, so be it.

Thanks for pointing me to a possible solution. Are you suggesting that Safari doesn't support 2 function verification? I also don't understand why I'm getting a notification message with a verification code on the same computer I was running the Safari browser on. It says a "new device" is trying to connect, but then sends the notification to that very same device. I just upgraded to OS X 10.11.5 today. It was after that upgrade that the 2 function verification began misbehaving. However, I had not tried logging in to the discussion.apple.com domain for quite a while..the last time was in Dec 2015 timeframe, and I didn't have this problem then.

I just had this happen to me. It has noting to do with the browser this is a problem on Apple's servers. I called Apple Support and we did a screen sharing session so they could observe the failure in action. It has been escalated to Engineering to look into.

The thing is that I can log into iCloud.com and My Apple ID and authenticate with the authentication code that is sent. The problem only occurs when trying to log into Apple Support Communities.

The work around that we discovered was to use SMS to send the verification code. User uploaded file
