Q: Details button missing from Safari Preferences Privacy Pane

Trying to manually manage cookies in Safari, but the "Details" button is missing from the Privacy pane in Safari Preferences more often than not. All I can do is Remove All Website Data ... which is a pain in the butt when reconnecting to many sites with dual-form authentication (banks, etc.).

Any suggestions on how to fix?

OS X El Capitan 10.11.5

Safari 9.1.1

That happens to me sometimes.  I have to come back to it several times before it shows up.  I'm not sure why, but it does/will eventually.

    Hi,

If you have just clicked Remove All Website Data, Details is not available until you visit websites so cookies can be stored.

When I go to that part of Safari Preferences, I find I have to wait for a period of time until the cookies are 'inventoried' and loaded. I can hear the computer working. Eventually it will stop and then the Details button is displayed.

I have this problem now after upgrading to Safari 10.  The details button never appears now.  I submitted a bug report, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has already come up with a solution.

You can select Develop > Empty Caches. This all thin out the list considerably leaving the cookies. However, there is a downside (bug?) with Safari 10. You will lose your Web Page Icons and everything will have the generic blue world icon. To get around this, and before emptying the caches, go to Library > Safari and make a copy of the three Webpageicons files at the bottom of the list. When done clearing the cache replace the three Webpageicons files with the copies. This will give you back your icons.
