Wi-Fi Calling on other devices

My info.

Verizon

iPhone 6

Wi-Fi calling does work when needed.

However I do not have the option of "Wi-Fi Calling on other devices" as it shows in the Apple article.

See this photo of the "Add Wi-Fi Calling For Other Devices" which I do not have on my phone.

Does anyone have Add Wi-Fi Calling For Other Devices on their phone for any carrier?

Is this something that other carriers have but Verizon does not?

My other setting for "Calls on Other Devices" does not show "ON" like in the photo below.

It says "When Nearby".

The article seems confusing.

Well, I think I just found my answer for me in the U.S. anyway.

The carrier needs to support "Wi-Fi Calling on supported iCloud-connected devices"

I missed that before on the Verizon specification which has just "Wi-Fi Calling".

Looks like I have to wait and see if Verizon ever adds the above.

Fortunately I can still use Wi-Fi calling on the iPhone as I have a weak Cell signal where I live.

I may have seen that link in my searches before.

I have yet to see anyone, or any article, mention that Verizon does NOT have or support "Add Wi-Fi Calling For Other Devices".

Hopefully others will find this useful and not waste their time like I did before finding this out.

Yes, Verizon does support Wi-Fi calling for the iPhone. But apparently not for other devices like some other carries do.

Thanks for the link and info.

I realize it doesn't help with Verizon, but AT&T has taken WiFi calling for other devices a step further. It will allow any device that you register to make WiFi calls using your iPhone's number when connected to ANY WiFi network, not just one shared with the iPhone. I used this to great advantage the past 2 weeks in France; I could call the US when connect to WiFi for not charge except minutes, and, as I have an unlimited calling plan, essentially free. Using either my iPhone or my iPad. And once, my Macbook Air. I suspect Verizon will have to add something similar to compete.

Yes, that is what I was expecting from Verizon and all the articles that I read.

However, upon looking closer, I found out Verizon does not have the "Wi-Fi Calling on supported iCloud-connected devices".

And other articles don't really mention that Verizon doesn't.

That's was what confusing for me.

Verizon has Wi-Fi Calling on the iPhone only which is good, but not as good as the above.

It looks as though some other carries in the US do have the better feature.

AT&T

Sprint

T-Mobile

Again, Verizon does not seem to have that feature.

Thanks for the info. Maybe someday Verizon will add that feature.

I have T Mo and use WiFi calling and am allowed to make calls with my MBP as well another older device that is now used as an iPod mainly - does not have a SIM card - but can connect via the WiFi feature

You are correct - emailing or otherwise contacting VZ with a suggestion to add the feature by its subscribers may cause them to move in this direction
