I had this problem too. For me, the DashlanePluginMASService daemon was wedged. Even quitting out of Dashlane won't kill this daemon or get Dashlane back in your browsers.

When Dashlane loses connection to the browsers what works for me is going into Utilities -> Activity Monitor, finding the DashlanePluginMASService daemon and clicking on the X in the header. A popup will ask you if you want to quit this process. Select "Force Quit". This will send a SIG_KILL signal to the process, forcing it to reload. You should be good to go after that.

the impala icon is in my menu bar but its grey rather than blue so there appears to be some issue somewhere

In Safari, the icon is not blue. It will be a very light gray if you are not logged in and darker if you are. Dashlane calls it "black" but I sometimes have a hard time telling which is which. If you aren't logged in and you click on the icon it should bring up the login; if you are already logged in and you click on it it will bring up a small window with several options including a list of websites.

Hi, all that clicking on the light grey icon does is take me to the procedure for finishing the setting up procedure but it gets stuck at the "saving my data to Dashlane". I tried that link you sent me but, again, right at the last step of the reinstallation process it tells me that an error has occurred in trying to install Dashlane extension.

Where it says in the link "Check that Dashlane is working in Safari" no flashing light appears to show it has installed and loggin to Gmail.com does not reveal two impalas on the login from.

Hi angloargie! This is Simon from Dashlane's Support team. As far as sync is concerned, we have very recently fixed an issue which symptoms were very close to what you are describing here. Our fix will be released shortly with an upcoming app update. In the meantime, could you please let me know if either of the following workarounds work for you?

  • Signing out of your Dashlane account, and in again
  • Going to your Activity Monitor and force-quitting Dashlane processes

As for your issue with our Safari extension, could you please try to remove the extension from Safari (go to SafariPreferencesExtensions and click on the Remove button next to Dashlane), then try installing the extension again via the Dashlane app (DashlaneInstall/Manage browser extensions…).

If these workarounds do not work, could you please create a support ticket via the link below, to Simon's attention?

Thank you very much! I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Simon,

"Signing out of your Dashlane account, and in again" worked fine for me

I did the next part you suggested and when trying to finish set up ,I got a box saying "safari can't install this extension. An error occurred while installing the extension “Dashlane”. So it looks as though i am back to square one alhtough when I click on the dark grey impala in the tool bar I get a list of 9 websites , one of them )(facebook) is repeated 4 times for some reason.A bit confusing really

Hi Simon

I sent that support .Dashlane ticket and I titled the ticket to Simon's attention as you suggested got the following reply via email

Hello,

Thanks for your message. Could you please try the steps explained below to fix your problem?

* Can you check that Dashlane is installed in your browser?
* Check the toolbar of your browser for the Dashlane icon. It should be there, and it should be green (unless you're on Safari on Mac OS X, in which case, in which case the Dashlane logo will be dark grey if the extension is on).
* Could you also check your browser's add-ons or extensions menu? Dashlane may be installed and visible there, but disabled.
* If it is not there, open Dashlane and select:
- Dashlane → Install Browser Extensions… if you are on a Mac.
- the Extensions menu in the application if you use Windows.
* Then, choose which browser you want to install Dashlane on.

Please refer to this article if you need any help:

Feel free to reply to this email if you have any further questions or issues and we will get back to you shortly. Please add any additional information so that we may solve your issue quicker.

Kind regards,
