MacBook Pro (Mid 2014, uses a MagSafe 2, 13inch) won't charge but the adapter shows a green light, not dim but normal strength at all times.

On the battery information page it said Amperage (ma) was -986. I checked this three times in 5 mins and it changed to -35, then - 384. The laptop was plugged in at all times.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Have you tried a reset of the SMC?

Sometimes, an issue may be resolved or helped by reset of NVRAM.

• How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

When there are issues that could be hardware related, either wear or damage,

the idea to see about having the unit inspected or perhaps given diagnostic test

by an Apple Authorized service provider, may help discover causes or remedies.

Have the connectors on the MagSafe adapter & computer been checked to see

of they're making contact? Have you carefully inspected & cleaned them?

OK, so I reset the SMC and the LED on the MagSafe 2 changes to orange, but the laptop now doesn't turn on. Whenever I remove the adapter and re plug it it changes stays on green. I tried resetting the NVRAM but it do anything.

To my knowledge they are making contact, and I have cleaned them. I recently bought the magsafe as my original had been frayed, and this is the first issue I've had with it in around 4 months.
