All rechargeable batteries have a limited lifespan and may eventually need to be serviced or recycled. Your own battery’s lifespan will vary depending on how you use your device as well as the settings you choose for it.

If you need to charge your battery more and more frequently, it might be time to service it. For products with built-in lithium-ion polymer batteries, the batteries should be serviced by Apple or an authorized service provider.

Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery service for $79, plus $6.95 shipping, subject to local tax.

You can download an app called Battery Life in the App Store and see what it reveals about the current wear on your battery. If it recognizes the battery is about done, then replacing the battery will get you the best results. Your mention of your WiFi not working sounds as though the WiFi chip may have failed after all these years. Reference the following article to troubleshoot that issue. If Wi-Fi is grayed out or dim on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

There may be a chance that your battery performance is merely suffering for not being able to use WiFi as this can prove to be less stressful on the battery than maintaining a Cellular connection for your data all the time.
