ipod nano 3rd generation not connecting to computer.

i have ipod nano 3rd generation which is not connecting to my computer working on windows 10. i tried to connect it through iTunes and also as a USB device but in both the cases windows prompt up the message that the "USB device connected to that computer is malfunction,and windows does not recognize it.'
