Q: Mac locks up transferring photos from Pentax K-30

When I transfer photos from my Pentax K-30 camera to iPhoto in my Mac, the transfer locks up after moving 3 or max 4 photos. Anyone know how I can stop this happening or transfer the photos to my Mac another way?

Did this ever work? Has it happened with more than one card? It's possible that there is a problem with the card, or with the cable you use to attach the camera to the computer, assuming that's what you are doing.

If you are attaching the camera directly, consider using a card reader instead. I've never used anything other than a card reader to move images from my cameras (including a K-30) to my computers, and it has always worked.

I was using the cable, between camera and computer, but when I took out the card and transferred the data directly into the computer, it worked. Good stuff, so many thanks! Mark

A decent card reader costs less than $15 these days, and is good insurance against flaky cables or flaky built-in card readers, or the battery in your camera running out of juice in mid-transfer, so you might want to have one on hand. I was always paranoid about that last possibility, since I didn't have AC cables for any of the dSLRs I've used.b
