When charging my iPhone 6 this morning, I noticed the plug that goes into the wall was quite warm when I unplugged the unit from the wall. I've never noticed that before. Is this a bad sign and Is it safe to use?

Was the charge on the phone under 80% when you unplugged it? If so, the cube would be warm, because the phone draws more power for the first 80% of the charge cycle, it then tapers off. If you have any doubts take it to an Apple store for evaluation.
That was exactly the case! I had never unplugged it before reaching 100% (I was in a hurry this time). Never realized how hot that cube would get. Thank you for your reply.

This is dependent to your iPhone model and the storage usage of your device. If the iPhone is overheating, then you maybe have to visit an Apple store for support. In cause of an explosion this can get very bad !
Nonsense. Read the post again. The phone is not getting warm, the USB wall adapter is. And no iPhone has ever exploded. Over 700 million, and no explosions. iPhones also cannot overheat; they have thermal protection, and shut down if the phone's temperature goes outside of its operating limits.
