Attempts to enter passcode on ipad results in ipad being disabled. passcode is same as previously successful.

Attempt to enter passcode for ipad access apparently incorrect. Resulted in ipad being disabled. Passcode is one I've been using for a very long time. How can this be remedied?

iPad Air, iOS 8.0.2

It sounds like your iPad passcode needs to be reset. To remedy this I'd recommend reading the following article:


If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, or your device is disabled


Whether you decide to erase and reinstall iOS using a computer with iTunes or iOS, hopefully you'll have a backup you can restore from. If you do, you will find this article useful as well:


Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup
