CPU usage 400% on iMac 5k!

Hi!
I just bought an iMac 5K with 4GHz i7, SSD and 32GB RAM. When I started using it even the smallest things god the fan running at full speed. Lightroom peaked out at 700% CPU usage.

I returned it and the Apple service centre changes the motherboard and bluetooth module.

After getting it back it seems to do a better jobb but the CPU usage is still from 200-400% (++) when using Lightroom.
It also takes a couple of seconds for the images to load in and show all of the details. The images are RAW files from the Nikon D750.

I was expecting A LOT more from this beast of a computer.

How are your CPU usage in similar tasks? Should I return the iMac?

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Here is the result of the test:

Everything seems to be good! Maybe I'm to picky.

Just to be clear, when it says that a processes is using 700% CPU, it means that it is using 7 full cores. It is not trying to use 7 times the total amount of CPU in the machine.

Now that I've clarified that, it isn't unusual for Lightroom to use 200% or more when it is working on something (rendering, syncing files, importing, etc), but mine idles around 20% when it isn't doing anything.

Jun 12, 2016 11:02 AM in response to Handcarr

Well, I only have 4 cores if I'm not mistaken?
I was just now using chrome (YouTube) with Lightroom idle in the background with no tasks running when I suddenly hear the fan speed up and the CPU was above 300%.

Yesterday when flipping through images in Lightroom the fan went totally nuts.

I was expecting MUCH more from a computer costing 3500 USD. As of now I could've kept my 2009 i5.

CPU usage 400% on iMac 5k!
