Q: ipod touch 5, battery replacement?

The charger port on my ipod touch 5 is very strange, I've been charging it for hours and it's been stuck on the low battery screen. The charger port has come in contact with water, which is probably why. I just want it to be able to turn on, and I was thinking, could I put the battery in an older ipod touch, and charge it that way? Will taking the battery out, charging it in a different ipod, and putting it back in affect the files or memory on any apps?

iPod touch, it's at least ios9.1

The battery in a 5G or later iPod will likely not fit well in an earlier model iPod.

Doing the exchange repeatedly will likely result in damaging either or both devices.

Taking the battery out if done carefully should not result in losing data on the iPod.
