cannot launch gdisk on terminal

I have macbook pro OS X El Capitan and trying to launch gdisk on terminal but it gives me this error:

GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 1.0.1

Problem opening /dev/disk1 for reading! Error is 16.

I disabled the System Integrity Protection and checked it after booting and found it disabled. I'm using gdisk to overcome the partitioning problem "Windows detects GPT disk as MBR in EFI boot"

I also have another problem which is when I reboot my laptop after adding windows 10 by Boot Camp Assaistant I get this error unless I hit "alt" key, the error is:

"no bootable device. insert boot disk and press any key"

Any suggestions?

You have either El Capitan or Sierra. You will need to disable SIP by booting into Local Recovery (using Command+R - not Internet Recovery) and click on Utilities -> Terminal and type

csrutil status

csrutil disable

csrutil status

Boot normally and check the output of csrutil status which should now be disabled. Now test GDisk.

Hi,

My MBP retina is mid 2014 model, MacOS Sierra 10.12.6. Model identifier 11,3.

I can't use straight Bootcamp so I am using gdisk. This is the error I am getting and any inputs are appreciated.

blue$ sudo gdisk -l /dev/disk0s4

Password:

GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 1.0.3

Problem opening /dev/disk0s4 for reading! Error is 16.

diskutil list

$ diskutil list

/dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

Please let me know what I need to do next?

Thanks,

SIP has been already disabled before I installed gdisk. I just forgot to paste it here.

What I did is follow these steps:
-Start Bootcamp in Mac OS

-Choose to create windows bootable or start disk and point it to the windows ISO image I have on my HD. By default, the windows support is ticked and cannot be unticked.

-Have a tea and wait to finish

-Boot and press ALT and Choose EFI

-And have more tea while Windows install...

-BE PATIENT IF YOU SEE A BLANK SCREEN, IT WILL EVENTUALLY SHOW THE WINDOWS small circle icons circling as if thinking...

Windows is working now, but every time I boot it goes straight to windows and no option to boot to MAC.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply, and I already solved the issue of "no bootable device. insert boot disk and press any key" but still have the first one.

I think the Gdisk was installed properly because it did not complain when installing and it was done successfully. Also, I'm not sure if the symbol after the dash is a bar ' | ' or the letter ' l ' so I typed both and I got the following for each:

1-

-|/dev/disk0

-bash: /dev/disk0: Permission denied

2-

sudo gdisk -l/dev/disk0

GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 1.0.1

Problem opening -l/dev/disk0 for reading! Error is 2.

I put a space and got the following output:

sudo gdisk -l /dev/disk0
