Q: iTunes does not show all iBooks

I have hundreds of books in my iBooks library, but when I use iTunes to sync books to a device only 65 are showing. My library is a mixture of books purchased from the iBooks Store and imported files. It is possible that only purchased items are being shown, but I can't be certain.

All software components are the latest versions.

    Ferd,

Thanks for the response, but I think you have misunderstood my problem. I am not looking to use iTunes to manage books as before. It is still necessary to use iTunes to sync books to my devices, and it is on that screen where all my books are not being shown.

    Roger,

You should be able to use iCloud to accomplish your objective. I no longer sync books with iTunes. Since you stated that "All software components are the latest versions," I presumed you were using iCloud. Have you tried using iCloud?

Sync iBooks between your Mac and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support describes how to use iCloud for syncing books:

"If you buy a book on your Mac or your iOS device, it’s automatically available through iTunes in the Cloud on all of your iOS devices and all of your Mac computers. You can also sync your bookmarks, notes, and collections across your devices.

If you have iOS 7, your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch will automatically ask you to sync.

The information below only covers how to download and sync books purchased from the iBooks Store. Learn how to sync PDFs and non-iBooks Store books."

    Hey

Not sure if you fixed this issue already. I was having I think the same problem as you were, and when I disabled/unchecked the iBooks box for iCloud syncing on my device (iPad Air) and on Macbook System Preferences, I was able to get my books to show up on iTunes again. I just also updated iTunes and iPad softwares. I did the following after what this article stated https://tidbits.com/article/16378

On the Mac,  in System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive Options, uncheck iBooks

On iOS, Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive, switch off iBooks

When I did that, all the books that were originally missing in the iTunes sync window were now also gone from the iBooks app on the Mac. So if you don't have the original epub files for some reason, then maybe don't try this. So I just went back into my finder and reopened all my pub files with iBooks, and the books I re-added to iBooks were now showing up in iTunes.

Sorry if that was confusing, but hope it helps. If not, really sorry and hope you find/found another way. I have been trying to figure out how to get my non-purchased books to show up on iTunes for weeks.
