iPad Garageband Midi export to Windows PC

Hello, I have an iPad Air 9.3.1 and iTunes 12.3.3.17 on my Windows PC, although I'm going to update my iPad to 9.3.2 soon.

For a long time, I've tried to export Midi files from my iPad to my PC. To me, it looks like I can only export various audio files, but not any Midi files. When I try to export a song, I get a few options; SoundCloud, Youtube, Facebook, iTunes etc. If I choose iTunes, I get two more options: "Song" or "Project". If I had a Mac, I assume "Project" would give me a Midi file, or at least something I could then use on my Mac version of Garageband. But I don't have a Mac, only a Windows PC.

So, my question is: Is there a way for me to export Midi files from my iPad to my Windows PC? The only options I see so far is buying a Mac, or using a Virtual Machine, which is something I really want to avoid doing, for several reasons. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Exporting as a song exports an audio file of the track. Exporting as a project includes all of the data files so it can be edited on another iOS device or in GarageBand on a Mac. The .band files are essentially .zip files by another name. Looking inside there is nothing that corresponds to a .midi track that you could edit in a third-party application. There are no doubt other apps available if you want to record editable MIDI files.

You cannot export Midi files at all from GarageBand, neither from GarageBand on a Mac nor on the iPad.

If you export a GarageBand project you will be able to open the project with all tracks intact on a Mac and continue working on the project in GarageBand. GarageBand will transfer the midi as part of the project package, but not as separate files that can be extracted from the project.
