Q: Message boxes gone rectangular instead of bubbles?

I noticed that the text boxes in Messages have gone from bubbles to rectangular boxes.  Is this an "enhancement"?  I noticed it this morning for the first time and it's rather ugly.

    Humm,

If it wasn't for the picture I would have said that was impossible.

There is only one plugin left for the Text Sending and it is called balloons.

It states that Outgoing iMessage are blue and outgoing anything else is green and that all incoming ones are grey.

I would try a NVRAM reset first How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

It's non destructive but clears some caches that a plain restart will not do.
