Transfer CDs to PC to Mac

I have some CDs that I want to put on my phone. My MacBook Pro doesn't have a CD Rom so I put them in my Dad's PC laptop. I was going to copy the songs onto his PC then put them on a flash drive then upload them through the flash drive onto my Mac. The flash drive was not detected, I've looked in Finder and Disk Utilities and did not show it. From there I was going to transfer them through Migration Assistant. When I did that it said something like it could not be done or "error". The PC does not have iTunes and is playing through Windows Media Player so it may be a formatting issue. I've tried to find how to do this but couldn't find anything. Just trying to find a way to get CD songs onto my iPhone. Any possibilities will help

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

When I go to open the DVD or CD Sharing Setup it says for "Select a Destination" three different options. The Macintosh SSD "DVD or CD Sharing Setup can't be installed on this disk. A newer version of this software exists on this disk." The DVD or CD Sharing Setup option says "DVD or CD Sharing Setup can't be installed on this disk. The contents of this disk can't be changed." The third option is Macintosh HD and it says "DVD or CD Sharing Setup can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this installer." So I went to System Preferences to enable DVD or CD Sharing but it wasn't on the list for me to check.

Thanks for your help. Sorry, I am new to Macs and don't know much about them in detail.
