Q: changing Apple Id

Are you following these directions:

Change your Apple ID - Apple Support

I would recommend doing it from a computer, not your iPhone.

Did you follow the directions and sign out of everything, including the App Store before changing the Apple ID?

Sigh out of iCloud on your Mac and iOS devices, then sign back in.

Anything should be put back when you sign back in.

Your purchased apps including free ones are tied to your ID

You can either link your new and old IDs using Family sharing to link them

You will get a message about losing your contacts when you sign out of iCloud - if those are part of your backup

If the OP changed the email associated with the Apple ID following the linked directions, any purchases will still be accessible with the Apple ID. It would only be if they created a new Apple ID that they'd lose access to purchases. However, if they didn't sign out of everything before changing the email, it can cause some temporary problems.
