Ipad mini stuck in apple logo (loading mode)

My ipad mini, has repeatedly crashed and became stuck in loading mode (apple logo), then after 10-30 minutes would go back to logon screen. I restored to last backup but this did not change much. A few days ago, it crashed / shut off mid activity and stayed in logo mode. I do not know whether the update or new apps were responsible. Though, after apps were removed and the iPad reset, this did not fix the issue. I am resetting it now (not restoring)..I'm hoping this will at least allow me some basic functionality. If you know what is causing this, do let me know what is going on. Thanks
