What type of Bluetooth device? What happens when you attempt to play back this voice memo?

Is this a voice memo that you have synced to iTunes, or is this one that just exists in the Voice Memo application? If the voice memo will play over the iPhone, then it should play over the Bose system. What troubleshooting have you tried? I'm guessing the memo will play if you are not connected to the Bluetooth speaker?

It is a voice memo I recorded, it plays over the speaker phone but  it doesn't connect to the bluetooth.

any other music app plays back on the Bose.  Is it done by default? or is there a problem with my phone?

I just connected my Bluetooth headset to my iPhone and tested a voice memo. When I open the Voice Memo application on the iPhone, in the upper right corner you will see a blue icon. That will tell you the audio status. If it looks like a speaker with lines out from it, then it is in Speaker mode, and the voice memo should be heard through the speaker. If you tap on that icon, it will bring up a dialog box for you to choose the audio playback, either Speaker, Bluetooth (and it should identify the Bluetooth device), and iPhone. Speaker you should hear it, Bluetooth you should heard over the Bluetooth, and iPhone will play it in the ear speaker for the iPhone.

    Check your audio setup.

Chris, thank you for performing the test... Mine didn't quite work.. I pressed the icon on the Voice Memo application and it turns blue when connecting to the phone speaker; that's the only choice it gives me, no dialog box opened, giving me the choice to play back over the Bluetooth device, interesting enough I'm hearing my typing over my Bose, the bluetooth app works for all other apps, I tested YouTube, videos from my photo app, etc,  they all work except the Voice Memo app... If yours work, that means my application may have a problem, don't you think? Or is there another audio set up I need to check?

When you say "the Bluetooth app works for all other apps", are you just referring to Bluetooth connection, or are you saying that you are using some specific app for Bluetooth? If the Bose is not appearing, it may be something about the profile used for listening to the Voice Memo app, but I would think the speaker should support all profiles. Are you using some type of Bose app to connect the Bose to the iPhone, or are you just pairing it to the phone in the normal manner? Have you tried to forget the Bose speaker and then pair it to the phone again?

No bluetooth app, i meant the bluetooth connection, just normal pairing, and yes I disconnected (Forget This Device) and reconnected it again, same difference, if per example I'm playing Pandora over by Bose and switch to the Voice Memo, it stops playing on the Bose radio and it plays back over my phone or the phone speaker.

Well, I tried playing my iTunes music over my headset, and it worked fine, then went to the Voice Memo and it played over the phone speaker, since that seems to be the default. However, I'm not sure why when you tap on the speaker as I said earlier, you do not get any additional audio output choices. The only thing I can say is that it has something to do with the Bose speaker. Have you tried contacting Bose to ask them if this is normal function? They may be able to tell you, or you might find something on their support forum. Since I do not own a Bose, it is difficult for me to duplicate. I suppose if you are close to an Apple Store, you could make an appointment and bring in your Bose and test it there with them and see what they have to say.

    HI Jcnar

I've the same issue with Bose mini, Voice memo doesn't play over the speaker while all other apps do. I would say is a bug on last IOs upgrade, rather than Bose speaker Issue.

As a workaround I added Voice memo to a note via "Add to note" and then it plays over the Bose speaker

    Hope it helps

Do you have the ability to change the audio output for the Voice Memo as I described in an earlier post? If not, then it would seem to be an issue with the speaker, since I can get my memo to play over Bluetooth. I'm not sure you could diagnose this as an iOS bug.

Yes, I can choose between Iphone, Iphone speaker and Bose mini. By selecting Bose mini, speaker beeps as it was connected to it, but just afterwards beeps again as being disconnected and continues playing the voice memo via the Iphone.

I assumed was a bug on the iphone Voice Memo app as Bose mini is pairing perfectly with any other app.
