File > Library > Get Album Artwork

instructs iTunes get artwork for the entire library. Previous versions allowed you to select a specific song or songs, right click that group and get the artwork just for the requested song(s).

Reprocessing the artwork for the entire library just to get one song's artwork is a waste of time and bandwidth.

possibly I replied too soon.

Elsewhere on the forums I saw this:

To do Get Album Artwork for a particular album, show your Music library using the Albums view (to show your library as a grid of square album "tiles"). Right-click album with missing album artwork. You'll see that the command for Get Album Artwork IS present (in the contextual menu), when usingAlbums view. That actually makes sense, because missing album artwork is generally for all songs on an album. After all, the command is (and has always been) Get Album Artwork, not Get Song Artwork.

it's a bit unwieldy - having to change the view to get to albums. But it is much better than re-syncing the entire library

When using Songs view (or any other view), make sure View > Show View Options - Show Artwork is checked.

Then where the album cover should be, right click - Get Album Artwork.
