    Hey Brian Bantz,

Thanks for your post. If your GarageBand update will not remove from the queue when updated already, you can uninstall the GarageBand app then reinstall it from your purchase history. You should check the App store purchase history first to verify that you have the Garage Band app available to download before uninstalling it. To do so please follow the steps below.

    1) Click the "Purchased" tab at the top of your App store window

    2) Sign in with the Apple ID associated with the GarageBand app

    3) If the GarageBand app is in the list, then you are good to uninstall

Here are the links below that provide the steps in more detail:

Download your past purchases (Scroll down to "From the Mac App Store")

OS X El Capitan: Install, update, and uninstall apps

Once you get the latest version of GarageBand reinstalled from the Mac App Store purchase history, no longer will you have the update badge in the queue!

    Cheers.

    Hi JayB,

I have the same issue described above.

I currently have Garageband 6.0.4 and iTunes keeps asking me to update to 6.0.5, but tells me it is not available in the UK store.

Garageband is not in my list of purchases in iTunes either.  If I delete it from my Applications folder without it being in my list of purchases, will it download the correct version?

and iTunes keeps asking me to update to 6.0.5,

What do you mean?  GarageBand on your Mac is pdated from the AppStore, not the iTunes Store?

You should be seeing GarageBand in the Purchases history at the AppStore - the fourth tab of the AppStore - Purchases.

My apologies, I mean AppStore, not iTunes Store.  I don't really use either, it's just the AppStore keeps telling me I have an update and then it fails.

To confirm, here is my situation :

    1.  There is no GarageBand option in the 'Purchased' tab of the AppStore

    2.  My version of GarageBand currently installed is 6.0.4

    3.  The AppStore is asking me to update GarageBand to 6.0.5

When I do the update, I get different errors each time.  Sometimes I get the 'unavailable in the UK Store' error, other times I get the 'this update is not available for this Apple ID either because the item was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled' other times I get this weird 'There was an error in the AppStore.  Please try again later (null)'.

To be clear I have never purchased GarageBand as a standalone application.  I have had my 'Early 2011' MacBook since new and at that time, GarageBand shipped with the OS (Snow Leopard I think).  Since then I have just upgraded the OS every time it has been released, up to and including 10.11.6.  Sometimes Garageband updated with the OS, other times it was a seperate update.  All was well until this last update.

I know that 6.0.5 is the last 'free' version of GarageBand and that I will need to purchase to upgrade further.  I really just want this annoyance gone.

    Thanks for reading!

You could try to update to GarageBand 6.0.5 by downloading the updater from the Downloads page.

    Use this link:   https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1507?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

If the updater is giving you a warning "invalid certificate" or similar, set the date of your Mac back to March 2012, the month the installer has been posted (in System preferences > Date and Time"). Then try again to update.
